The problem with climate change is that it’s too big of a problem.
For real though! With so much bad news about how much we have lost, how difficult (re impossible) it will be to reverse the damage we’ve caused & how futile it is to actively mitigate further Earthly woes, it’s no wonder people feel so defeated by those two words.
That’s precisely why cinder + salt is focused on eco-optimism AND providing opportunities to engage with Earth.
There’s so much bad news that people are, simply put, checked out. They don’t feel like their actions will have any impact, and the impending doom of climate change is too much to carry. It’s so important to me (hi!) that we keep the conversation around our planet centered on joy - I want to remind people of good times spent outside, teach them about all the awesome plants & animals in nature & provide opportunities for meaningful experiences around sustainability.
But education & opportunity are one thing; action is another. Devoted as I am to eco-activism, I too share in that overwhelming burden of not feeling like I can do enough. And sometimes, I’m just plain tired of explaining WHY we need to protect the planet… I just want to do it. That’s why we’ve partnered up with The Rockfall Foundation to create the Earth Day Every Day Action Grant.
Human induced climate change continues to threaten the finite resources of our planet. The Earth Day Every Day Action Grant is available to businesses, organizations & individuals* to help fund projects that directly impact Earth’s well-being, including, but not limited to, toxin & litter removal, reforestation, or habitat preservation.
Why? Because it’s time. There is, quite literally, no time to waste in the fight against climate change. If you’re ready to take action, we want to be your support system.
How? As 1% for the Planet members we wanted to make sure the funds we were donating were actively being used to protect the planet & benefitting the world we inhabit. By partnering with The Rockfall Foundation we were able to direct our charitable contributions back into the hands of the people in our community and provide the funds for folks to take action into their own hands.
Who, When & Where? The Earth Day Every Day Action Grant is open to Nonprofit organizations, schools, municipalities, businesses & individuals*. Projects must take place in, or include, one or more of Rockfall Foundations focus towns : Chester, Clinton, Cromwell, Deep River, Durham, East Haddam, East Hampton, Essex, Haddam, Killingworth, Lyme, Middlefield, Middletown, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, Portland, or Westbrook. Applications and all required documents must be received electronically via email by noon on June 15, 2022, at grants@rockfallfoundation.org.
*Individuals must partner with a business or organization to submit application.
How Much? Grants will be awarded in amounts from $200 - $1500 depending on request amount & scope of work.
So if you’re ready to take action into your own hands, apply today! We will help you access the funds (in other words, resources & supplies) to make change in our community.
Stay Green,
Rachel @ cinder + salt!
