Lifestyle | Our Complicated Relationship With Straws
TL;DR 2024 UPDATE :
I'm STILL using the acrylic straw from Brittany, 6 years later. I almost exclusively use a glass straw and my Stanley tumbler for iced coffee now. And I've switched to Avocado Straws and Hay Straws as single use options for parties and/or cocktails.
Lifestyle | The Spix's Macaw & Why I Am Who I Am
News just dropped that the Spix’s Macaw is now extinct in the wild and I am heart broken. I’ve never seen one, haven’t watched the movie Rio, barely know a thing about the species, but the Spix’s (Blue) Macaw is one of those animals that lit me up as a child, and honestly, to this very day. Backstory : The Lorax by Dr. Seuss has always been my favorite book. The lesson behind it, and the colorful imagery of the natural world where the Truffula Trees thrive, shaped who I am today. Here at Cinder + Salt we’ve been striving to reach a goal at the shop to produce zero waste out of our facility. This challenge has influenced all of our work and our in-store display in particular. For our summer windows we decided to create coral reefs out of only recycled materials! Back in January we started a collection bin area for the...
Profile | Meet Luke of Tourbus
“Don’t be a jerk! Don’t do anything that Jerry Garcia would not approve of…” is Luke Scott’s advice for attending a concert, “which leaves you kind of wide open, but on the hook for treating other with kindness and consideration.” And as the Founder of Tourbus and a loyal Dead & Co show attendee, we trust his word. Tourbus is a small side project and boutique business run out of a small purple office in back of Luke’s marketing firm in Bridgeport. Tourbus’ office culture feels like, “loud music, strong coffee, hoppy beer, boxes, pencils, stickers, rubber stamps, vintage cassette...
